Introduction

In partnership with the Aboriginal Housing Office, Stanton Dahl Architects delivered an eight-unit affordable housing development in Wallsend, providing secure, high-quality homes for Indigenous residents in the Hunter Newcastle Region.

Thoughtfully designed to balance functionality, accessibility, and cultural connection, this project plays a crucial role in addressing the growing need for affordable housing.

Situated on a steep and challenging site, the design was carefully crafted to integrate seamlessly with the existing neighbourhood, ensuring minimal impact while enhancing the local streetscape and character. The contemporary façade, featuring a blend of brick and timber-look cladding, creates a modern and welcoming residential environment that respects both cultural heritage and community identity.
