Introduction

Kevin Betts Stadium has long been an important place for disability sport in Western Sydney. Originally established through the commitment and fundraising efforts of Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT members, it has served for decades as a place for training, competition and community connection.

As demand grew, the existing facility could no longer support the volume and diversity of use. The completed expansion responds to that pressure with a substantial increase in capacity and a more inclusive environment for athletes, spectators and community groups.

This project strengthens a much-loved piece of community infrastructure so it can continue to support participation well into the future. Stanton Dahl contributed to the architectural delivery of the upgrade, supporting the project through detailed documentation, approvals and construction delivery.

Built for inclusion, shaped by community

A significant investment in accessible and inclusive community sport, the completed Kevin Betts Stadium expansion creates more opportunities for people living with disability to train, compete and connect in a setting designed to support dignity, confidence and long-term community use.

Located in Mount Druitt, the project involved the upgrade and extension of Kevin Betts Stadium from two to four full-size indoor courts, together with improvements to the existing stadium, access arrangements and external works within the Mount Druitt Town Centre Reserve. The completed works improve capacity, accessibility and amenity across the facility, supporting its continued role as a regional hub for disability sport and inclusive community use.

Stanton Dahl’s role focused on the documentation and delivery of the project. Our scope included detailed documentation to council standards, coordination through approval processes, and delivery of works on a constrained site adjacent to active community facilities and environmentally sensitive woodland areas. The completed expansion also includes upgraded amenities and accessibility improvements that help ensure the stadium is safe, welcoming and fit for future growth.
