Red Hill Independent Living Units
Project value: $40 M
Project period: DA pending
Completion date: TBC
The proposed Red Hill Development in Canberra will replace outdated housing stock on the site with a contemporary residential village. The facility will comprise 114 independent living units, with a mix of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units. The design responds to numerous site constraints including a maximum height of 2 storeys to maintain the suburb’s residential character and large setbacks from surround neighbours. The development aims to reduce its impact on the surrounding suburban context by utilizing existing vehicle access points and retaining existing trees. The development is contained within 5 double storey blocks, located across the site, reducing the bulk and scale of the building envelope. The design aims to create a dynamic and supportive community within the development through the provision of a range of resident facilities. A swimming pool, health club and landscaped gardens will be located within the complex to ensure accessible links to the residential units. All dwellings are adaptable to accommodate ageing in place for all residents.
